Many healthcare organizations are joining forces to improve patient access and streamline back-office applications. Impact Advisors recently engaged with an academic health system, comprised of 1,400 physicians and 16,500 staff at six hospitals and 80 outpatient sites, to support their efforts to bring a regional health system onto their instance of Oracle Fusion.
Impact Advisors program managed the conversion of the regional health organization from a multiyear legacy system into an Oracle platform that had been running for over five years. Combining the varying methodologies and practices of an academic medical center with a regional health system was challenging, but the objective afforded the opportunity to adjust and tune workflows, policies, calculations, and processes to maximize efficiency.
With Impact Advisors’ guidance, the combined teams worked collaboratively through every challenge to achieve an on-time go-live. Utilizing the updated Oracle Fusion platform, the organizations smoothly transitioned to a new recruiting workflow, successfully processed payroll, maintained supply thresholds and requisitions, and achieved an on-target first month accounting close.
Other achievements include:
- 37 systems were migrated, archived, and decommissioned.
- 60 regional policies were mapped into 20 system policies, creating a single source for organization policy.
- 4,500 employees were incorporated into Human Resources, Finance, and Supply Chain applications.
- First Payroll was run with a 99.7% success rate; the 0.3% error rate was corrected within hours of detection.
Keys to success included committed leadership and teams from both organizations, a solid ERP system integrator, a strong partnership with Oracle, and expert program and change management to bring all the teams together. Merging the two organizations on a single, updated instance of Oracle Fusion and optimizing and aligning workflows and processes is enabling significant efficiencies and driving increased ROI.
